3 Effortless Things You Can Do To Make Your Photography Clients Extra Happy!

As a photographer, your job is to not only make your clients look super beautiful, but you also have to make sure that they have a great experience with you as well! Here are three REALLY easy things you can do to make that happen!

1. Communicate

This one is #1 on the list for a reason. Make sure you’re available to contact if they have questions. ?Give them different ways to make it easy to contact you too.

  • Email
  • phone
  • text
  • Facebook messenger

All great ways to keep in touch. You don’t have to drive yourself crazy continually checking messages crazy immediately answering any questions, but you should in an appropriate amount of time. Within 24 hours is usually pretty acceptable. Your clients will appreciate that you have made yourself readily available if they need you.

Make sure you are communicating all that is included as well. Make sure they are real clear on the session, what is involved and what they’ll receive. That way there are no surprises.

2.Over-Deliver

Always to to deliver more. This can be in many forms. Doesn’t mean give them lots for free, just do simple little things, that will make a big difference. Have a 60 minute session? Stay an extra 10 or more minutes. Do you promise a galley of 20 photos? Make the gallery 25+. Give a surprise bonus print credit or simply hand a lollipop to the kiddos at the end of the session. Try to go above and beyond in small ways to deliver extra value to your clients. This is easy to do too.

3. Under Promise

This is easy to do too.

Never tell your clients you can do more than you know you can. Instead, do the opposite. If you tell them you can get 50 great images in a gallery, but go home to find there only like 10 good ones- they will be disappointed BUT if you under promise and say there’s only going to be 8, but instead you get 50- then that’s amazing!

This same principle can also be applied to your turnover time. Don’t give them a quick turn over time if you can’t deliver. Always give yourself a hefty buffer and then aim to give them the galleries in a much quicker time! They won’t be expecting it and will be grateful. On the other hand, if you promised a two day turn around, and then all your kids got the flu and you couldn’t produce, well, then your client might not be too pleased.

It’s real easy to make your clients happy. Just see how you you can best serve them and make it happen!

Good luck on your next photo session!

Hi Emily , I recently purchased one of the lens you recommended and i love it…canon ef 50mm f/1.8 . I bought it to do portraits of preschoolers in a small church school. I also bought a plain scenic backdrop to use. I was really happy with how they turned out. I also used some of your advice which was also a big help. I thoroughly enjoy your blogs and weekly posts to my email. I don’t do instagram but can email some pics once in awhile. Thank you for all your help, Terry ReplyCancel
