5 Things To Do To Instantly Boost Your Creativity in Photography When You’ve Lost Inspiration

Photography tips for how to get your inspiration for photography back! Spark your creativity!Do you ever feel burnt out with photography? Like you’re just stuck or have lost motivation? It’s like you need to find that spark to excite you again!

If you said yes to any of those questions, you’d be just like me…and many other photographers out there too. Sometimes we all feel a lack of excitement and need to figure out how to stir up that inspiration again!

The trick to fighting that feeling is knowing what to do when that fire in you just starts to die down.

So what should you do to get your inspiration back again!?!

Spoiler alert…there’s no one right answer. But over time and after talking with many other portrait photographers I’ve learned a few things about how to get re-inspired (…is that even a word?) and get some excitement and imagination back into your photography!

Allow yourself time to just take a break.

Put down the camera for awhile, don’t force the creativity. Sometimes you need to just clear your brain and the inspiration will come back to you.

Challenge yourself to try something totally different.

Do you usually shoot portraits? Try a landscape or street photography. Shoot in a new location or at a different time of day.

Rent a new lens for the weekend.

Head to your local camera shop, or look online and pick a lens to try out. Maybe it’s one on your wish list, or better yet, rent one that is very different from what you usually shoot with.

Allow yourself to admire others photography without questioning your own.

Scroll through instagram or 500px, or just simply get on google and look at others work for inspiration. It sounds easy, but this task can be hard to do for many people because you naturally want to compare to yourself, and sometimes that makes you feel bad. The trick here is to really think about just learning to admire and be inspired by others and not play the comparison game.

Learn a new editing technique.

It can be anything really, just something new. Search through YouTube and watch a few videos. You just might find something you’d like to try!
