Day ONE

Are you ready to get your edit on?   Yeah! I’m Emily Supiot and I’m thrilled you’re here and I’m ready to help you TRANSFORM the way you edit your portraits using Lightroom or ACR and Photoshop!

Below is the FIRST video tutorial in the 5 day challenge, BUT FIRST, let me help you get the most of the challenge!

    1.  Watch the tutorial in full before trying the techniques on your own. ( Most videos are under 10 minutes) Trying to follow along as you go may cause you to miss something
    2. Apply these techniques on your own work! My dad always told me, practice makes perfect…and I think he was right?
    3. If you are not shooting in RAW format yet, NOW is the perfect time to give it a try.  Don’t be scared…some of these techniques will only be able to be done if you shot in RAW format.
    4. And finally, have fun!

Let me know in a comment below what you found most useful! I would LOVE to hear from you.

Emily

Thank you for this tip.  I know about WB/Exp but never use the white of an eye as my dropper point, I learn something new today. I have gone back to the old school technique recently, using a gray card.ReplyCancel

Hi Emily, what if my picture does not have a neutral white or grey area. How do I check my WB then?ReplyCancel

      Hi Natasha!
If there are no neutral areas in your photo, you can always check it by adjusting the white balance with the drop down menu on the right upper side and selecting the lighting condition where you shot the photo. 🙂ReplyCancel

Hi Emily! Thank you for this! It was helpful to hear why shooting portraits in RAW is important for adjusting WB and exposure. Also I love the tip you gave to use the dropper on the white of the eyes. I have always just guessed and used my eyes to gauge WB (which I know is inaccurate ). Also I have never relied on the histogram to adjust exposure. The two tips you provided  sure makes things simpler than the way I have been doing it for years! I look forward to your next video! Thank you 🙂 ReplyCancel

Although I knew about both of these, it is always great to get a reminder to do them. Sometimes I jump right in and start editing and forget that using the dropper is always a really great place to start and MUCH more convenient that making the manual adjustments to WBReplyCancel
