Photographing extended families can be a difficult task, especially when young children are a part of the group. It takes patience and precision to carefully pose and coordinate a great location that is accommodating to such a large group. Then, throw in the fact that when there are that many people, it’s almost certain that someone will blink or cough or the children will just want to have their attention focused on something other than the camera. It can be done however! In fact, I actually really enjoy working with large families and find it a lot of fun to be a part of their reunion together.
This family made my job pretty easy. They were so friendly, kind hearted and happy to be with one another. Even the young cousins laughed and played and enjoyed being with their families. I was able to get some pretty neat shots of this family of 10 as they let loose and had fun! The children’s silhouette shot might be one of my favorites!
